Fished with nearly all of those types . My " fish hear everything" guy also insist , while beach fishing at night not to use any lights cause the fish don't like it and we won't catch a Mulloway . lol.
I'd have to say that's me as well. I'm always trying to work out why fish are biting or not biting. With so many possible variables it's bloody hard. Sometimes I think I have a system sorted and then disaster strikes... I catch a fish when I'm not supposed to. At least when you don't catch fish when you should be catching fish, you can put it down to location. There's nothing worse than catching fish when you shouldn't haha.
one crewie was named slipknot for this reason and yes your right wouldn't try another knot, would never go light either[ when I hook a fish I want to keep it], many many laughs on board
Best ones are when you can see the rod tip bounce and they don't do anything, you comment and they say it was bottom not fish and then they wonder why their bait had disappeared when they finally wind in to check it.

many times I've had
the bringer of wind on trips up north, or I got bitten off and you can see the slipped knot, these things go down as angler error!!

Tim-o is champion at talking about tides, moon phase, fishing areas, rigs, bait, jigs, almanacs, bottom structure, successful FW members, bite times, sea contitions.... without taking a breath!!
