Fish ID -Mosman Bay

a few of my mates and myself went down to mosman bay, im wondering if anyone has seen these fishes, that seems to jump outta the water, they make a relativelly large splash, and i swear i saw a number of these fishes jumping around, i would guess that since the splahses where considerable and loud, at a distance these fishes where relativelly large. we tried a few different baits on them but to no luck?
anyone caught these before, and i swear they jumped and swam like grasshoppers! can anyone ID these things ta ...

Yep more than likely mullet
Bobs dad used to make a dough up (secret recipe) and he'd catch mullet after mullet down in Mandurah many years ago

About 26-28 years ago, I cam across a young kid with a bamboo pole sitting by the dock and went up to humor him and asked if he'd caught anything.
He said "Ya, caught a couple of nice fish, don't know what they are though."
I said let me take a look and he did - inside his cooler, there were 3 kilo plus mullet! I asked him what he was using as bait and he said
"well I ran out of squid, so I starting using my lunch and they seem to like it."
I of couse asked him what he had for lunch and he showed me the remains of a banana!

I know and have seen Mullet
I know and have seen Mullet take corn, but a 3 kilo mullet never seen one that big before

mullet do get big
mullet do get big tho...maybe not in the swan, but seen some sea mullet i would rate almost 3 kgs i rekon.

We catch mullet every week off the beach on mulie pieces,,will have to give banana a try,,plus apple and oranges
