FINALLY!!!!

Hi all
Myself and a mate headed out for a fish on monday morn in the tub hoping for a good result.
After many frustrating fishing sessions and my motivation slowly drifting away we found a spot that made me smile all day and restored my faith in fishing. Many times i have fished for pink snapper and many times went home empty handed. Well monday was hot! We found a spot in 20m of water out from garden island and bureleyed up for a while. First fish was a sml pinkie and we got the feeling things were going to get good.
I caught an eel which swallowed my whole gang! Second fish blew me away when i got it up to the boat and it was my first pinkie that went 65cm.
Third fish was a thumper, snapper that went 77cm and 5.6kg. You should have seen the smile on my face. Mate also caught two big snapper. We also caught a shark, rays, sambo, skippy, wrasse, snapper. What a day! Thanks to all the guys who gave me the burley advice, it worked a treat. Hope to get some pics posted soon.

As has been said here before, what can be the real joy of fishing is that when to have been having a bad run one good session wipes all the bad memories away.
Good on you for perservering and really look forward to the pics. Sounds like some great snapper.

Now don't kill the spot by fishing it dry!  Keep looking and use this one for one or two fish every now and then.

Welldone Rodrat - eel?

Wed, 2008-05-21 13:47

Well done rodrat - sounds like a brilliant day mate! Top stuff?

That eel? Was that a moray? Those suckers have attitude - can sometime take a hole can of hair conditioner to get them off ya hook! Foot in mouthTongue out

Hair conditioner?

Wed, 2008-05-21 13:52

Two questions Colin. How does the hair conditioner chase the eels of your hook. More importantly - what is the hair conditioner doing in your fishing boat.

It started at the top gang hook and wiggled its way up the metre long leader and onto the swivel before i could cut the line. Stupid thing strangled itself before i could release it!

Yeah, a good burley is so important. We caught some good snapper a bit back for precisely the same reason I reckon.
