"Feeling Lucky PUNKS..?"

Heres the new addition to the ongoing arsenal!! Deep drop fire power!! Rubies, bass, trevalla and hopefully some broadies are on the wish list!! The outfit is primarily for sounding and if fish are found the manual jigging gear will shoot away.

Anyways

Nice Reel

Mon, 2010-08-09 12:09

But why a reel such as that doesn't come with harness lugs is beyond me.

sweet looking reel. but got

Mon, 2010-08-09 14:44

sweet looking reel. but got to agree with Alan tho, for the $ you would expect harness lugs or are they optional. just make sure you have that chained to the boat on a short chain so it doesnt hit the water if dropped.curious tho how many $ for that one

The manual addresses the harness lugs

Mon, 2010-08-09 17:34

Its an electric, with harness lugs there would be a danger of falling over board with the motor engaged and being drowned..

And yes an Eastwood fan. just love 80's unforgiving punishment!! Theres nothing politically correct about it!

the reason these reels dont

Mon, 2010-08-09 18:45

the reason these reels dont come with harness clamps is because the japs designed them to be fished in a rod holder and not accually phisicaly holding the rod, they are also only really designed to be fished in waters up to 150m.

Then why can they hold 900m of PE6

Mon, 2010-08-09 18:56

if they were designed to be used in waters up to 150m.  Doesn't make sense.  Look at the Daiwa Marine Power 3000.  That has harness lugs.

If you are afraid of being pulled overboard perhaps you need to have a rethink with respect to the drag settings you are using.  Jmo.

i think i would feel better

Mon, 2010-08-09 19:07

i think i would feel better if there were lugs on it, jmo bit it would be a shame to see something like that going over because your arms and hands were too tired to hold on to the fish of your dreams

whats the deal with leaving

Mon, 2010-08-09 19:12

whats the deal with leaving the rod in the holder. mine are pretty much pointing toward the sky.

sounds like a sure fire way to snap a rod

thats the way the japs fish

Mon, 2010-08-09 19:25

thats the way the japs fish with them, in the rod holder

alan the daiwa marine power is designed to be fished in a rod holder, i highly doubt a reel of that size and wieght is ment to be fished in a harness, i would say they are either a way of securing the reel to the boat with rod straps or just more of a look thing, the daiwa rep explained to me that in japan most the tanacoms are designed for is water depth of 90-200mts, with the average 120-150 not 400-500

Daiwa Marine Power 3000

Mon, 2010-08-09 20:01

Jmo, but if the "harness points" on the Daiwa Marine Power reel were meant to be a means of securing the reel / rod to the boat they should be underneath the reel similar to game reels.  Secondly if they were meant to be fished from the rod holder why do they have a manual handle.  As Honsu says they would be a lot better reel for "us" if they had harness lugs.  I think the Daiwa rep is attemting to justify the product.  Again why would a reel designer design a reel for depths up to 150m and then produce a reel that can hold 900m of PE6.  Sorry but to me it doesn't make sense.

The Tanacom 1000 is a great reel, just not quite thought out though imo.

Japs used them on bent-butt

Mon, 2010-08-09 19:39

Japs used them on bent-butt rods and in rod holder as already mentioned. No need for harness lugs but would be ideal for the Australian market as we use em on standup sticks and fight em like real men lol
