east coast vs west coast fishing mags

just wondering what everyones opinion is on the quality of magazines , from over east , compared to our west coast mags??

do we have it right here in WA  , or are the eastern states mags a better read??

on what ticks your boxes - can't please everyone all of the time!

In regards to freshwater fishing, not a big sport here so therefore no decent WA based magazine. Same with game fishing and so fourth. I think our local mags do a reasonable job of catering to the majority.

I enjoy both personally.

the east coast has more population so more readers so more mags.....but they tend to forget the west coast as a fishery so most articles are east coast based........

west covers the westcoast obviously.

as huggy says whatever ticks your box.

they all have their pro's and con's but I dont suscribe I just buy the individual mag when it has something of interest.

One east coast mag will be covering more west stuff soon, will inform you when and which to buy. Wink

Prefer WA Mags

Thu, 2009-12-17 09:06

I prefer WA mags because it has articles on WA fishing locations and tips. Last year I was given a subscription to GO Fishing from the East Coast. Read them once and found only one article on WA fishing and have pick them up since.

When ever I am going to location (new or old) in WA I go through previous mags (I have about 5 years worth) to get tips on tackle and where to fish. Always make great reading no matter how old they are.

East v West

I personally think the East coast mags are more technical than teh west coast ones and teh west coast ones focus more on location than species or technique.

I buy both from time to time, but prefer the West Aussie ones as they are generally more relevant.

Nothing beats our very own Reeltime Mag though I would have thought! Wink

Only west coast mags for me. I only what to read about stuff thats relevant to me, not stuff off the east coast. Same for west coast mags, I usually dont read most of the stuff in them as its all about fishing up north. I dont go fishing up north I only fish the south west.
