Deep Water Sheep
Submitted by Brunno on Mon, 2009-11-23 09:48
Hi Guys,
We were fishing the Rotto Trench yesterday in about 800m of water when we trolled past a dead sheep in the water. We also found a sheeps head floating seperately. We assumed they were thrown overboard by a sheep ship. Just wondering if anyone else has seen this and how often it occurs?
We caught one dolphin fish and missed another from the fist sheep but the head didn't seem to be working as a FAD quite as well. :-)
Cheers,
Grant.

Ha ha. Yeah it wasn't pretty but it produced fish so I can't say I was disapointed to find some "structure" out there.

We saw one out there once.
We saw one out there once. We just happened to have a pistol on board so we pumped a few rounds into it just incase it wasnt dead. When I told the wife i went fishing and shot a sheep she was a little confused. lol

We've found sheep
heads on the beaches north of Leeman, apparently they aren't supposed to throw dead ones overboard, there was a sheep ship in the harbour last week, having lunch at the north mole, when we come home a sheep crate was heading for the wharf. They wonder why the great whites follow the cattle/sheep ships and hang around our shore lines.
