Darwin barra charter

Hi guys a mate is headed to Darwin in late April and is looking to go barra fishing. I've used the search function but all the info seems pretty old. Does anyone have any recent recommendations to share?

Cheers

That's been my experience on quite a few charters, except sailfish out of Broome.

Wife and I did a charter out

Wife and I did a charter out of Darwin a long time ago. 15 people on the boat and 5 people got a total of 6 fish. My wife was one of them and got something around the size of a good herring.

A long and expensive session with not much to show.

I just see that Kurt whom i mentioned below got one of his people onto a $10k barra yesterday.

Yeah a lot can be like that. Having said that I've caught about a dozen sailfish, some barra and a short-billed spearfish on charters so it's not all bad!

Look for Kurt Williamson. He is up there after a long stint in Broome. He formally ran Barraddict in Broome but he works for someone up there now. He always put us on something memorable

Thansk mate. Looks like he is a guide with Anglers Choice so I'll pass on his details.

Cheers

Charter

Territory barra fishing charters{ maybe only staying on the mothership] , Point Stuart guided fishing, he could head out and stay at their accomodation the night before for an early start. Obsession fishing charters, Top End Barra fishing. there is a couple more not sure about them.

It hasnt been the best wet season but always a chance.

I usually go every year, this is my first year for 14 years i am not going..

Spothound its worth doing it with mates yourself.

We hire a car and a boat and book our accomodation at Point Stuart Lodge for 7 days fishing and for 3 guys it costs about $340 a day with food and alcohol included.

We get at least 1 fish a day usually more and somedays get more than the guided charters which your paying a few hundred more a day to do the same thing.

Most will be booked out and not easy to get on one of the top charters this late in the year and you may have to just ring around and see if there is a vacancy and take what you can get.
