When a group of fishermen reeled in a shark in the Northern Territory, they thought they had the catch of the day.

However, they didn’t bank on a hungry crocodile having the same idea.

The
group, who were on their annual trip to the Cape Don Fishing Lodge, on
the Cobourg Peninsula, pulled the
thrashing shark from the water and on to the beach.

Suddenly, a dark shadow appeared in the edge of the ocean, as a
three-metre crocodile crept out of the water and lunged at the shark.

But before it was able to feast on the creature, quick-thinking Christen Barr fought off the reptile.

After being hit on the nose with a fishing rod, the croc retreated back into the sea.

Counter-attack: Christen hits the reptile on the nose and it retreats to the water

‘The shark was as good as gold. He was only on the sand for about a
minute for photographs and then he was put back in the water and swam
away.

‘All the fishing we do up there every year is catch and release.’
