G'day Mark
As far as I'm aware and correct me anyone if I'm wrong. The crays up North are tropicals/painted and are different to the ones down south. Tropical crays are veggo and therefore don't go into pots ....which is why most of the guys dive for them or pick em up on the reefs at low tide.

MYTH
I think you will find it's actually a myth that tropical crays are vegetarian but it is not a myth that conventional pots are not successful in catching them.

Something to do
With the crays feelers I was told, evidently they are not like the southern ones and wont push back to allow then into the pot but I also heard that about not being a bait to entice them in ,I think its more fun to dive/snorkel for them Im sure Adam Gallash will be able to explain about them.jersey

They do not go into pots!!
I dont know why because I caught one on a squid baited fishing line so I am sure they are no vegan. Just dont go into pots. Try muddies instead.
