Covid creation and other tasks

Didn't totally waste my time whilst observing isolation protocols, mounted a 1.2 metre saw fish saw on a piece of feature banksia and also started repainting the interior of the house.   The latter is not something I enjoy.

NB. The sawfish saw is around fifty years old, got caught in a pro Barra fishermen's net out of Derby and regretfully died but I thought I should do it justice

Sorry but no

The saw was passed onto me by a good mate who spent a lot of time back in the late 60's early 70's at Cape Levique.

The saw measured 1.23 metres and I have always wondered the same. I was also given a tiny one, again perfect, which is perhaps 150mm long and the saw is as sharp as. Have seen large saw fish in the Kimberleys but nothing even close to the mounted one

I home taxidermied a marlin bill (it was never going to release well and we used all the fillets etc). It came up pretty sweet and I managed to score a really nice feature piece of wood to mount it from a Carmel / Kalamunda based wood workshop. Came up a treat, wish I could work out how to post a damn pic.

Ideas

Cheers for that, now gives me an idea what to with the saw i have been moving from place to place over quite a few years.

Did you treat or coat the saw ?

Mine still in really good nick, but often wondered, if it would be ok with a like a coat of clear lacquer.

Thanks

The saw is totally untreated

Sanded the banksia all the way down to 440 grit ....smooth as a babies.....then Matt finished with a spray epoxy varnish to really bring out the grain. The wood came from a guy in Baldivis, his shed holds some of the best feature timbers i have ever seen all at good prices.
