Boat Window Replacement

Happy New year all,
I'm about to embark on replacing the perspex windscreen and side windows as the previous windscreen had a small mishap. The perspex I've taken out is 3mm and as super loose in the channel. The channel itself has a 5mm gap, so I'm thinking of increasing to 4.5mm Polycarb as a replacement for a bit more strength and durability. The issue with this is trying to find a rubber seal that will facilitate this, which I dont' think exists.
Has anyone done this before and share any thoughts? The way i see it my options are 1. use 4.5mm and seal with sika or similar, or stay with 3mm which will be able to be accomodated with a 5mm seal.
Any advice appreciated.

Changed mine to toughened glass
Just took all the perspex panels into Modern Glass and they used them as templates .....you can specify the glass thickness you want .....then had them commercially treated with enduroshield and they shed water like you wouldn't believed. They don't cloud up like perspex or polycarbonate

Agree with sunshine, Ive just removed my whole windscreen as the perspex cracked and broke again.
Looking at all new glass with the refit.

I replaced my windows with perspex lasted around 2 years before starting to crack and fade glass seems the way to go my side windows on the trailcraft have a very slight curve wonder if they can still be done in glass

Same on my Seaquest
But my best mate, now deceased, was a brilliant glazier and he had no problem fitting the side panels though he did scare the proverbial out of me with how far he bent the panels. So it seems good glazier can get around the issues.

How do the costs compare from perspex to glass. Often thaught about it

Given you don't get crazing or opaque issues worth the differenc
I would never go back to polycarbonate or perspex
