Boat rod for my five year old son

Hi there guys,
I want to buy a decent rod reel combo for mainly bottom bashing and allrounding for my five year old son. I was wondering if any one could recommend a setup that may have been tried and proven before, he is a strong little fella so he should be able to hang on.
cheers

illegal?
Not certain on this one , but selling or swapping your son for a boat rod
may be illegal or at worst ill advised! wait till your missus finds out!
jokes aside 5 years old is great if your taking him out fishing, but not sure on what rod .reel would suit.
whats the drag rating on a five year old, 2-3 kgs maybe, so a 10 kg line max , on 3000-4000 size reel
with a pe2 rod , nice and short , say five foot, and get him a good comfy rod bucket too.
please post some pics when he;s sett up
cheers.

i would suggest something
i would suggest something that is light for him to hold all day. the main thing would be to get a rod that has the strength but also a decent flex it in so the rod does more work for him. you dont want something that will kill him, you need him around for a while so he can winch the anchor up and the boat back on the trailor for you. great age to get him into fishing, just got to keep him amused, get onto a school of whiting or even skippy and he will be excited all day.dont let them get bored
