Bluejuice

A couple of us bought tickets for a Bluejuice Extreme Fishing Charter. With great forecast and light winds, 12 of us gathered at 5am in the dark at Hillaries for the charter. A hour later we were told "charter's cancelled - we can't start the boat" !
Disappointed but still keen, we rebooked for a month later to try again. This time, we received a call the day before - "charter's cancelled - we can't find a skipper" !
Are we just very unlucky or has anyone else experienced this ?

Extreme
Yep, thats extreme- at least they got their name right. I've not used many charters but have never had a problem when I did. Caught some good fish & found them to be good guys. Just unlucky I reckon.

sorry to hear
not good enough for a charter company imo ive heard some bad reports about them in the past so i would stay clear from Blue Juice charters
Try Saltwaters Charters or Nebraska as they have a good reputation from what ive heard/seen

Thats gotta suck!!! and that
Thats gotta suck!!! and that aint cricket... gotta say though, I went out with Mills and was called a few days previous to get me out on the next days charter cause of weather 'concerns'.. I WAS an almanac stickler at the time, and I know how to check my boating weather... 5m seas werent much different to the BLACK 6m seas we encountered on the day(I went down and saw the suggested days catch)................... My advice really would be to throw ya money at someone on this site to take ya out for a fish... at worst youll get nothing(which happens), or youll have the day of your life, and not have to put up with 16odd other import/holiday makers trying their luck at our sacred shores with 150lb mono filled alveys!! its all extreme... just check out the sharks that are out that wide!!

Well one of blue juices boat
Well one of blue juices boat was up on the hard stand at Hillary's at the start off the year as the owner/skipper decidede to take out passengers in weather so bad they snapped the ribs of a 65 foot .The vessel had done 15 yrs crayfishing with no problems and he takes non professionals looking for an enjoyable day out in that, says it all really.Money making. I booked with Nebraska a while back and I spoke with the guys two nights out then one night out fron our day, they advised to me the weather was doable but pretty average and they rang me and gave me the option to take my crew or rebook, I rebooked another day and had a great day with my staff with none seasick and a good catch as well that's service in my opinion .
I am not looking for a deadliest catch experience just because that was the day I booked two months ago, you have to be honest and flexible in that industry IMO .

george get you facts right please.
the boat was a purpose built charter boat, not a crayboat. There was damage done to the ribs of the boat on the tip lefthand side of the bow. The damage was done due to boat taking off from a wave where the skipper was unable to ease off the throttle.
but hey lets all rip into the charter companys because thats all we love doing.
snore heard it a thousand times and so has everyone else,

I think the point here is if
I think the point here is if you're running a business have a back-up. Skipper's sick so have someone else on standby. When you're dealing with the general public word of mouth is a big thing, so are websites like these for dedicated rec fishers. Poor form on the charter companies if that's the way they operate. The only one I'd be looking at would be whitey as I've never heard a bad thing about his operation apart from the debacle a few weeks back which seems to have been a misunderstanding and was generously sorted out by him. Running a business as I do I think he's on the ball.

I know it's opposite ends of
I know it's opposite ends of the state, well almost, but if fishing charters are your thing, I wouldn't stear anyone away from Bernie on mahi mahi II in coral bay. I've been on his boat a few times and loved every second of it. From catching my first marlin, to bottom bouncing catching every sort of fish you could think of, with my own rod and reel. Even let me help with the trolling gear, like putting them out and bringing them in when someone hooked up. Very professional outfit. I can't stress that enough.

i dont work for
a charter boat buisness anymore and havnt for a while however i do not condone with the slating of any buisness by a bunch of keyboard warriors and stating they know what has gone on when they clearly are talking out of there rear exits.
i have no attachments to the company and will not defend anything about it other than FACTS which you lot ignore half the time

So what does that make you
So what does that make you pal (Keyboardwarrior)? My comments were generic about being in business. There are some people who should think before they post and Adam has warned people about this before.

saltwater
cant coment on bluewater but i was meant to go out with saltwater and was waiting on the dock with some mates only to be informed after ringing multiple times in the morning that he had decicded the weather was bad and that he had left a message on our work phone a 9pm the night with no attempt to try contact otherwise took awhile to get a refund from him aswell as he was intent on making us go again with him.

bagging and slagging
Sorry not going to let this one run, explaining your experience is one thing, letting rip on them is another and I can see where this is headed. Thread closed.
Also, just to clarify for a few people, both trips that Whitey offered were refused a) by the group of punters that were involved b) by me as I didn't want to get any more involved that I had been as legal threats became involved. Was a shiphouse situation and one that a few parties learnt from, especially regarding hearsay at a pub.
