if you are after a demersal jigging combo.  You pretty well wont be able to BB with a quality jigging outfit and vice versa.

Much better to buy 2 different combos as .....after a while you wont be happy using it.

Plus 1 for Talica 8

and then choose a rod... if using heavier sinkers want PE 3 rod or above .... but if jigging want as light as possible.

Talica 8 is an amazing reel.

Jonathon, i suggest you ask a common friend of ours and he will put you in the right direction. He is organising your trip in November. I can wait for you and drive up together if you like.

A stella 5000 was suggested

A stella 5000 was suggested by the above mentioned friend. Nothing wrong with the Saragosa range. I have the 6000, but an 8000 should handle what we are after. Can't go past a Jigging master rod. I have the Red one ( 1.5 - 4 PE ) Great rod.

 Hi Buddy

I wouldnt call him a friend as I’ve only known him a couple of months and he’s got me booked on a $6000 fishing trip before flights and telling me to buy a $2000 combo, not one but two combos.

Only 2 combos?

Now if it was me I'd go for a few depending on the depth you're fishing.

Shallow

Shimano Stella 5000 with the gold Jigging master Evolution Titanium PE 1-3 Max 150g

Daiwa Saltiga 4000 with the blue Jigging master Evolution Titanium PE 2-5 Max 250g

Using the same reels above on a Saltiga X 62S and you've got a good casting barra rod as well. Good taper. Light and sensitive tip but extremely strong

Mid range

Shimano Stella 8000/1000 coupled with a Saltiga Spartan rod SP 511 S PE 4-5

Handmade in Japan and extemely hard to find these days

https://gimme.com.au/product/daiwa-saltiga-spartan-sg-sp-511s-4-slash-5-spin-rod

Deep

Daiwa Dogfight 8000 tied to a grey Jigging master Evolution Titanium PE 4-8 Max 400g.

Ideal for jigging in deep water and also doubles as a good combo if you hook up to any monster dogtooth tuna or pelagics whilst trolling hence the "dogfight" name

Here's a link if you'd like to see a couple of those rods in action.

The Saltiga 62S barra rod stopped this Sambo without any effort.
