Beautie of a week

Tue arvi, thumper whiting and a flounder, Wed bagged out on herring and today;  48cm Queen Snapper, 32cm Nannagai,  40 cm skippy, 2 large sweep and (2 dhuie and a pinkie ...all 3 at 48 cm).    In the past 3 weeks, I must have caught and released at least 10 just undesize pinkies and dhuies :(.   It was so nice out there that catching fish was just a bonus. If that wasn't enough 2 whales came right up to the boat on one of our drifts and put on a show with the tail out of the water.  Man I love WA!

Sounds like you found some good ground, just gotta work on the size =)

Despite all the good weather I only managed an arvo off, so it was just a few squid for me.

which may be the reason for getting smaller fish ..not that 48cm is that small.  I have been using 4/0 Mustad circle hooks.....just wondering if I should increase hook size.  We still need to get together with Matt and teach me how to jig for Sambos sometime soon.  Cheers, Ben

Its a bit of a quandry really;

big baits = big fish?
v's
small hooks can catch big fisg, big hooks only catch big fish.

I'd probably go to 6/0 for dhufish, but ask Paul G, he catches a lot more than I!
