I think you may have already given some of this info, but can you provide us with some of the details, ie, body materials, number of ball bearings, number of sealed bearings, body weight and how much drag pressure it is capable of, etc?

This reel has been designed solely for the Australian market. You will not find it anywhere else but being sold by independent retailers. For pricing please contact your local independent tackle store. Most of them will have an account with us. If you need any further info please send me a PM.
Certainly interesting to see a reel specifically designed for the Australian market (daiwa's efforts dont count when they change two minor things and a name, haha).
I had heard before that the reels had carbontex, but this was a while ago. Did banax go for them, or some other material for the final design?
Guessing the 'Ultra lock anti reverse backlash system' isnt an infinite anti-reverse system? Not always a bad thing, if it ends up being strong and reliable (unless you pay stella/saltiga prices, then I expect it :p). Any idea of the number of stops?
What area is the reel designed for? Seems to have a reasonable amount of capacity. I thought the numbers were lb for a second, but then realised they are PE ratings. Seems quite high (sambo jigging strengths). Is it designed for that kinda thing or more general heavy fishing? Seems pretty light if it is though.
You mentioned the bearings are covered in the warranty, but what exactly is covered. I have heard of manufacturers covering everything..... except corrosion (which makes it pretty pointless for bearings). Quite dissapointing when you find out somethings excluded. I have no idea what Banax cover, so in no way some kind of criticism to Banax or yourself Steve. Would be interesting to find out more.
A ballpark figure would be interesting as well, but I understand why you cant give it out Steve. Hopefully someone else can give us a rough range
Will be interesting to hear the results from some field tests giving it a thrashing :D
The drag system is 6 part: 3 x carbontex and 3 x part alloy.
Ultra lock is Banax's marketing term for instant anti reverse.
The reels are designed for stopping big fish and have the internals to handle this. The drag pressure is a request that we have had from Cape York to Esperance so basically it is designed to do the heavy work.
The bearings are 100% covered for corrosion etc. I was out on a charter boat we sponsor in Sydney yesterday. he is running 10 GT 5000s on board and the reels have only had to come in for a service once in 18 months.
PM some site sponsors or call a local independent and they will quote you some prices.
We've had them on order since the pre-release, the shipment landed in Australia today and we should get our King Pin 5000 reels in about a week (approx)
Members can PM us if they would like to be notified of our delivery.
Oceanside Tackle and Marine have received these well anticipated reels. The quality components used and stylish blingy design will make them a winner. Ideal for jigging, poppering and bottom bashing where strength and drag pressure is a must.
Several reels have already been allocated to FW members but there's some still available, feel free to pop in and check them out.
*** Fishwrecked Special on this reel will be $299 (Normal rrp $320), a FREE Fishing peak cap & FREE fishing tackle bag also thrown in with every reel sold (total value of free products $30.00) ***
Hope they are better than previous banax reels which are not a very good reels according to some who have used them. I'll be sticking to Okuma though as they are building very good reels now.
Dunno about what reel you've got but Ive got a Banax SX5000 for 14+ years and is my 15kg snapper/rock fishing reel. Minimal maintenance (only replaced drag washers) and abused over the years, still going strong today. Ive also got a SI2000 with 20lb braid for spinning on a 9ft rod. My olds uses it and treats it like its unbreakable. 6yrs later and still running fine, no worn gearing, no rusty bearing and no drag fade.
So far I've havent seen any faulty Banax in my fishing lifetime, unless its been mis-treated....really badly!!
I've used the Banax reels whilst filming FWA and have been selling them for a long time now (since 1995). I rate them highly and product versus price they're VERY hard to beat!
As for shop returns, I hate getting gear back ie warranty claims and the Banax is a big seller in my shop yet they have the least returns. That has alot to do with the quality gears and still made in Korea. The Okuma on the other hand over the years have been riddled with issues but yes since they have changed their bearings & quality control I rate them highly also!
One of my shop reel servicer/repairer (one of the best in the industry) rates them and has many himself. I hear many positive things said about Banax from customers and will always stock them & recommend for that reason!!
Ryan and Honsu, I couldn't agree more. I've got an sx5000 and it is a brilliant reel and has never given me one once of trouble, in comparison to my sustain8000 which has given me a fair amount of grief ( still a bloody nice reel ). The new one looks very nice and sounds like its got the goods
The new Sustain isnt a whole lot better than the last one but it is a bit tougher....but so is the Stradic and difference is only the colour and just 2 less bearings. Everything else are the same.
I reckon this KingPin will be comparable to the likes of Saragosa, Saltist spin and the Spinfisher, if not better. All with Jap style Blingy looks!!

Is 5000 the only size it is being made in?

Sounds like a good quality reel there SteveB
It certainly stacks up well against the new Daiwa Saltist spinning reels.
I look forward to seeing one in the flesh.
