It will take several years
before it makes any impact i/m/o. I think we might see a few more of the 5 to 6 kg fish coming through in a few years. Time will tell I guess.

there seems to be more
there seems to be more u/size dhuies being caught lately but that could be just this time of year. as Andy said a couple of years time we should know as long as all these u/size ones are being released correctly they should be breeding soon.

the
heap of undersize dhus you all are seeing now, is the result of the reduced bag limit of 4 dhus down to 2 per person/per day they introduced a few years ago.
as andy said, it'll take years before we see the results of no pros in the metro area/further reduced bag limit/fishing ban results. maybe in like 30 years, we might actually see some sort of recovery......

Hope the bans work
but what turned our stomach while in Leeman before the Dec 15th, for us the amatuer to fish. Saw a professional boat (also has license for crays/charter) come in with dhuiefish, average weight 15kg's, large snapper, baldies. This was in the amatuer ban. Yes I know they have to make a living as you have all discussed in other posts. Some of the dhuie's had very fat bellies, so I assume they were full of eggs. As after the ban fisho's in the Caravan Park were commenting on dhuie's, baldie with eggs.
This really made me feel so helpless seeing these big fish that are our breeders for the future lying there full of roe. For the size of the snapper old fart reckons they would have been at the second bank or around or out from the Beagles.
Yes agree also heard in the Caravan Park lots of under size dhuies being released with excellent results. Then on the other hand, some fisho's absolutely disgusted in seeing floaters. I think the old saying be damned if you do and be damned if you don't.
