My apologies, when i went to
My apologies, when i went to Bluewater they had two different sized latex balloons. 60cm and 90cm from memory? It would depend on the weight of your bait as to how big you would need your balloon.
Helium would be ideal as it rises. But when the wind is favourable, i've gotten away with air filling them.
Then again ive read that people use standard oval balloons.
A lot comes down to budget too, helium costs money and those latex balloons can get upto $10ea.

yeah i suppose i will learn
yeah i suppose i will learn over trial and error was hoping to steer away from helium, and just air filling them, thought would be an easier and dryer way then kayaking out shark baits 100m or so, cheers for the info mate :)

If its just for shark baits
If its just for shark baits go the 60cm ones and air fill them works fine with baits up to about 2kg. I tie the balloons on with a short piece of 15lb so when a shark grabs it the balloon snaps off. From party shops the 60cm latex ones are under $3. But if your after a good chance of a shark over 1.5m then kayaking out 4kg+ baits is about the only way
always looking for a new challenge!!
