Assholes amongst us

Went out to get my pots on Saturday to bring them home. They had been in a shallow bay on the back of GI for a few weeks with the rope all coiled up (30m rope in 5m of water), with the pots in sand.

As we entered the bay, i couldnt see them. We putted around and could make out what looked like a pot on the bottom.

We anchored nearby and I jumped in and sure as hell, there was my pot, with the rope and floats all shoved in it.
The rope was still cable tied up so it wouldnt have gotten in anyones way.

Some asshole had pulled it, shoved everything into the pot and thrown it back in.

With some other rope onboard i was able to dive down, tie on a new rope and we retreieved it but we couldnt find the other one.

It must have only recently happened as there was no growth on the floats.

Who even takes time to think about doing that?

Very weird unless they didn't want anyone checking the float ID they had pulled.  May their bungs come adrift.

Could be that someone stole their pot so they stole yours and sunk the other one to come back at a later date to grab it as well.

All sorts out there

Strange

Yeah, thats a new one, calling them assholes is being kind.

I once pulled my pots to find empty beer bottles and burbon & cola cans shoved in the bait baskets.

I'm not sure which event is more strange.

Part of me wants to weld a heap of rio bar to make it look like a great big COVID ball so it scratches the shit out of their boat if they pull it again....

Splice a few hooks in the rope....

Would be unlucky if a wave came just as a shark hook entered the palm...

Me and mate watch three blokes in a mustard colored boat pull ten pots south of coventrry's and over the back of the F/F.

just makes you sick. You should be able sink the pricks, ringing fisheries is a waste of time as they have to catch them doing it. Sinking them ia better option.

Hey mate, ive actually had success with fisheries and this. did you manage to get a rego or a photo? Fisheries are usually hot on it and have recently seized some boats as a result of small information.
