Anyone ever tried stingers on squid jigs?

Has anyone tried stingers on a squid jig? I often get fish hitting the jig but no chance of a hookup.
Will stingers put the squid off? Any weed on the jig spooks them immediately.

Lee Raynor use to do the opposite and put a squid barb on his hooked live baits while going for kingies. but i dont reckon what you are saying will work for squid but you never know!

JARVIS walker tired stingers for squid, the squid didnt like them and they had lower catch rates.

Caught a 50cm Flatty on a squid jig once.
Bugger had it so far down I had to cut his head off to get it out.
Most of the time the fish hitting jigs are blowies.

Thanks for the replies. Usually fishing aorund Esperance or north of Gero so not usually blowies. Decent hits sometimes.
The squid barb on a live bait idea might be worth a go.
