There is a place on the foreshore down there that hire them. The Yak shack is involved some how. I have hired one a few years ago for a trip to Pemberton from the group.

Good luck.

A point in the general direction.

I think that Getaway Outdoors in Mandurah has test days for the Hobie range and maybe a few other brands. Finn sometimes have demos on the South Perth Foreshore. Barry @ Yak Shack in Rockingham or as Osprey said Paul @ Kayaks-4-U next to King Carnival on the Mandurah foreshore can help out. Have a look at their web sites or give them a call. Yak Shak and Kayaks4U also provide training and a social group. Highly recommended for anybody entering the sport. It will make you experiance much more enjoyable using a correct paddling technique and will provide some essential safety pointers.

I'm sure that most dealers will help you out.

Without being rude mentioning another website, you could look at yakfishwest and see the recommendations there for whatever you want to undertake. (general paddeling, touring, bream comps, whitewater, local fishing, offshore fishing) It all depends on what you want to do and how much you want to spend. Dont forget storage and transport considerations.

There are literaly hundreds of options, then there is the fitout depending how serious you want to be. (Lifejacket, gps, sounder, live well, safety flag, rod holders, anchor trolly, bildge pump, sails, flares, epirb, outriggers, paddles, peddle upgrade-Hobie, rudders and the list goes on)

Good luck.

Steve.
