Another bag out after the storm.

Went out this morning at gentleman's hours with the misses today to check the pots. I was pretty confident of doing well after the storm and we got our 16. 1  of pots had donuts but the bait was demolished I think Mr occy had scared them all out of there.

well done mate.

If you dont mind me asking what you using for bait. We have had good success with tuna and mackeral heads, plus orange roughy if you can get them. Last few years caught heaps with Australian Salmon for bait, but have not caught any last 2 seasons. Cheers Richie.

nice going still trying

nice going still trying ..good results mate !1
... your catch is pretty typical of what we would experience in may -june back in the 90s when we put our pots back in before the close of the season .. fishing shallow close to the coast , with good numbers after any sort of rough weather with swell up

a lot of blokes dont like to fish from may to oct for crays , its , rougher , colder etc but well worth it imo . we found checking them every 3-4 days was plenty can even stretch it to 6 or so in dirty water , other benefits are you get afew occys and can snapper fish the same sort of ground your potting , really surprises me how few chase them outside the whites .....

Would it be

Sun, 2019-10-06 20:42

worth dropping occy pots where you getting blanks or even just around the cray pots anyway?

Ever do it that way Hezzy?

tot i never bother too much with occy pots ,

mainly because we got plenty of occys in the cray pots ussually several every week
