Low profile if flicking for flatties might be better

Maybe try the Curado with that budget. Just got on on the recommendation of the Pilbarra boys and it is fantastic. Also use it bottom jigging with Raba Rabas up here and because of the low profile jakking with less space to knock yourself.

Flat seas!!!

I have a Luna 300

And I cant fault it. I use it with 30lb braid and drift bait in 40m with it and it works superbly. I doubt you'd be disappointed if you bought one.

hey shag, i have got a Luna

Thu, 2008-11-27 15:06

hey shag, i have got a Luna 253 and i am very happy with it. Its my barra/jacks/inshore/driftbait/allrounder sort of reel. its a dream too cast and uses and it fits my hand nicely.

For me it was a toss up betwwen the 300 size and the 253 size, i ended up going for the smaller size because the wider spool of the 300 made it feel uncomfartable for me to cast with.

As for the rods i ended up getting a pflueger president which IMO is one of the best value for money rods out there, sic giudes, nice light graphite blank, good finish etc. Once again i was tossing up betwwen the Daiwa sol rodand the pflueger rod. The sol matched the reel perfectly and if i had the money i probably would have got that, but i ended up going for the pflueger simply because of the price factor. i am very happy with the desicion i made though.

P.S. geez i didn't think i wrote that much lol.

If samC still has his Loomis

If samC still has his Loomis for sale I would grab that in a flash - you will not find a better rod for what you want in a baitcaster. Reels - plenty in that $300 range that are very nice!

Kmart have some great deals around at the moment. i seen one in there the other day for $23!!!!! why spent $600 shag????Tongue out

Na id go a gloomis 6kg gl2 rod with a daiwa bluebacker 200bb and run 20lb on it. Then dhuies and pinks etc can be handled with ease as well. Cost you around your price range.
