3 mile maccie on the cheap stuff

Early start this morning with deckie Chrisp, only to be greeted by very average conditoons and lots of weed.
We put a good spead of lures out, nice range of quality lures on quality outfits, and what did the fish hit.....the cheapest lure in my bag (Williamson el cheapo) on the cheapest rod ($40 Shakespere Navigator special) and reel ($80 Okuma Titus T10) I have. On 10 kg mono, it put up a good fight with the normal fizzing first run but goes to show you dont need fancy gear to knock over macs.
We gave up early due to the strong easterly and very sharp chop, happy with a mac on ice for dinner tonite.

No bait, no bird action, nada.........saw maybe one or two possible macs on the sounder midwater (could have been norwest blowies for all I know....haha) but no bait at all which makes things much harder.

had my first macky hit today
had my first macky hit today west end, spotted about 5 em on the sounder just before one of the reels started to buzz, big teeth marks but no hook up, few minutes later spotted another on the sounder but alas no go. given me a much needed pick me up on the macky reading/trolling stakes, cant wait to have another crack when i get back from holidays.
Here we go again.

good work guys
this is killing me. I can't get a leave pass yet
If I spent half as long fishing , as I do reading this bloody forum , I'd be twice the fisherman I am.
