When diving I have seen heaps of them in and around caves!
These are the type of fish that we rarely catch but show up as clutter/fish on our sounders when we are on good ground!
roughy, according to the " Sea Fishes of Southern Australia....and i quote...
reasonably common on coastal reefs of australia's southern half ( except tassy), where it inhabits caves. The single high dorsal fin, rough scales, and reddish brown colour are diagnostic.. found up to kalbarri , round to morton bay Qld... max lenght around 17 cm...
Yep they have the same characteristics as a bulls eye. As said they frequent the over hangs and caves and keep out of the light hence the large eyes. But... ya never know MAXY

Not sure what they are called Andy but we have caught heaps in around structure in the sound. All probably 1/3 to 1/2 that size.
