For those of you who love Garths. Lots of baitballs swimming past that day!

Great spot

Any angler worth their salt should make the effort to fish Garth's Rock at least once in their life. Plenty of good memories for me looking at this pic, even enough to fog over how hard the climb back up is at the end of the day!

Spots

Plenty of other spots which are much easier to get too that look even more fishier a bit north and definately wouldn't be as crowded. Just gotta spend the time exploring and sussing them out. :) Still a pretty special spot thou.

Nope

Halt the Salt is Exmouth Gulf, that is Cape Cuvier. Halt the Salt, meh, who's doing the most damage, the guys that rip the seabed to smithereens or a salt mine that will have to adhere to processes and strict regulations, but still has inherent risks. Depends how much you like your prawns.....

froth!

Spent a day and night on the rock .Me and some buddies caught Tailor, cobia, macs and GTs. Watched whales go by and caught sight of a huge noah tail going past early in the morning. Also there is a bloody huge groper that lives there(it scoffs gt heads as many as you can feed to it) A totally wicked spot!!!!     Fishing IS living !!!!!

We met the guy who it is named after a while ago and he was telling me stories about all the fish he has caught there, looks like a great place.

Yeah - Great!

Yeah - great spot to fish from - but as you aid John - not a place for the unfit. Fished Garth's a couple of times - a long time ago - twin brothers GT got sharked - he ended up pulling in just a head - wasn't very happy!

Sure brings back memorries.

Great pic Adam.  Have fished Garths a few times over the years.  Running the 'gauntlet' - the last 100 metres of low lying rock before the platform can be challenging during winter swells.

As John said, the climb back up, hopefully with a bag full of fish, is hard work...but worth every step.

Cheers Pete
