Nice
Nice pink. When you filleted him was he/she in Roe still just out of interest. I know they are in there in aggregations, but are they still spawning? I would assume so, but thought I'd ask.

Was gonna ask the same thing
Was gonna ask the same thing Adam, but didn't in fear of it being viewed as me having a dig. Interested to know as well. Judging by the size of its gut, my moneys on it being "yes"

spawning
This fish didn't show any sign and my mates was also very clean inside. I was speaking to a fisheries guy today because this fish was actually tagged, and he was saying that the spawning is still kicking in because of the water tempreture. Thats a partial reason of the closure i belive.

Hollow Gutted fish
I had a look at these actual fish and they were surprisingly very hollow gutted. They showed no sign of being in the middle of spawning. I think these fish would have finished by the look and condition of them.
