probably had hair cuts like his in our younger days.

When I was a newspaper copyboy I had the job of doing the horse racing tips for the newspaper I worked on's so-called "mystery horse tipper" Madame X.
After I tipped 5 of the 8 winners one day they took a photo of me from behind and said it was a picture of Madame X.
Boy did I cop crap from the other copy boys and the guys in my rugby teams.

A crack up #1. I love it it, I think all of us males, as soon as pathetic facial hair appears, try to grow a moustache to make u look 'older' and because we can (read can't!) - always end up looking like a half-dead furry catapiller in it's last gasp.

I'll see if I can dig up an old photo next time I'm up in Perth and visit my mother's (what joy! Yell

Small world mate - was it the 220, 240 or the 'top of the line luxury version' 440?

You're right about the 'non acceleration' Yell

440

wish I had a photo of it. It was white with the black "racing" panels on the bonnet. Fluffy dice included. Bench seat in the front but with a metre long gearstick and an 8 ball gear knob. Cost me $500 all up.
Upgraded it to a Cortina "L" with highjacker shockies, chrome dish mags with the tyres that you used to put white paint in the lettering. That one had twin weber carbies and was twice as fast. Even had the big thick sheepskin seat covers and the rear louvres.Wink
Unfortunately was stolen in the early Eighties never to be seen again.Yell

LOL! Had the 440 myself - metallic blue with blue interior. Yeah had the same long gear stick - no quick shift with that beast! My upgrade was to an escort panel van - and dropped twin webbers/extractors and mags onto that. Also no photos :(

Col, you forgot

The GT! - what a screamer they were. I started with an EH wagon, then a Studebaker Lark - plus some forgetables such as an AP5 with a straight through, XP wagon, HG sedan, 5 assorted panels vans, a Corona, a 180B, an HQ and no doubt there is a couple i have forgotten thankfully - beer and cars kept me skint until i met wife No2.

Actually i remember a 260C, a Valiant ute, an FIOO and an XY that would crack a genuine 100mph at the mad mile. - and i have missed a couple!

The mighty GTi LOL :). In the end I dropped a twin cam RS1600 donk in the Van - tiny light vehicle and could give a Torana XUI a run (mate had one) - yeah, wasted far too much money on cars, repairs and panel beating. Innocent

Subsequent cars in order where Datsun 180b, Fiat 124, Triumph Stagg, Ford Laser, Mazda 123, Datsun/Nissan 280ZX, Honda CRV and finally the current, a Khia Sorrento. :)

just like that ad for insurance

440 cortina, cortina L, Turbo charged Toyota Celica (now that was a beast), magna, magna, suzuki vitara, pajero DID, 3.0RB Subaru.
Looks like my evolution is reverting back to the fast cars again.
I keep watching that mazda 6 ad on tv and drool when I see the RX7 in the garage. Now that was a fine piece of vintage racing machinery I wouldn't mind putting in the garage one day.Wink
This is turning into a bit of a hi-jack, although it is all reminiscing stuff I suppose.

Cheers

Was thinking the same Andy, but I guess it's all part of the 'past blast' Laughing.

Back on core topic, I'm waiting for my twin brother to get internet connected (just moved house) then he's promised (he's bloody unreliable Foot in mouth) to email a digi-pic of the three of us (younger brother also) when we were 18.
