Too much
Probably the last 12 months is the most I have spent. I haven't calculated it, but it must be in the $3000 to $7000 range.

Per Year ?
As I read it to be per year I probably have spent only a few hundred dollars per year since I started fishing at about 10yrs.
If it said how much did you spend last finacial year then im not going to add it up as I might pass out
.
How much do I expect to spend this financial year just on gear Hmmm ouch
How much do I expect to spend on Diesel this year
.

1 to 3 grand
1 to 3 grand for me , a couple of reels add up to a grand , then there is terminal tackle , owner gear is expensive , and soft plastics aren't cheap we will go thru 10 packs of softies up the dam in a weekend lures at $20 each , fluro at $30 a spool, braid for the reels , ohhh boy I'm starting to freak myself out here , even the little snaps I use to hook my plastics on are $5 a pack of 10 and I never reuse them , every lure gets new Owner splits and hooks .
I forgot rods as well ohhh boy I better go change that vote .
And I have been like this ever since I got a job at 17 .

Not a resident of Australia
Since I am not a resident of Australia, I have converted expenses as incurred in my country's currency.
I have also included fishing trips expenditures in it. So $1,000 to $3,000 is tentatively a reasonable expense.
Colin Hay
"little snaps I use to hook my plastics on"
Maverick can you expand on that please? I always tie knots, but snaps would be really handy.

im over spendin all that money on expensive gear....ill make do with the good shit i have and enjoy for the next how ever many years...... ill just stick to restockin the tackle box when needed....lures included but as for rods and reels when you get to 25 of em i tend to think ive got enough to play with for the next 20.......so really not that much is spent........anymore........!!!!!the single life used to be wonderful.....!

I'm a cheapskate then
I don't get away often enough or have much free time on weekends but the yearly jaunt to Denham would cost = Fuel $1000, accomodation at $450. food at around $ 250, tackle and bait around another $ 250 amd beer etc about $ 150 - and i tell the wife it's about $500 all up so she doesn't tap me for a week at Surfers.

mmmm too dangerous to put up a figure, she would kill me if she knew the real amount.....
but with four to five reels, some rods, some lures and extras every year...it's easy to bust the piggy bank.

Would hate to know!
One thing though, I never pay for bait and I would have 50 trips at least out wide a year.I take about 4-5 kgs of occy every trip and the same in squid.
The cost of that alone through a shop would be about $5000.
What I use for bait is all eating quality so the real cost would be more!
That is scarey!

OS
Sorry but most of my stuff comes from OS , I do occasionally buy from Tackle shack and bluewater and my last drop shot came from Ryan but most lures and line comes from USA .
you can't get Xraps here in WA for $4.50 but I can from the USA , $15 postage and handling , well a spool of 250m braid for $9 and 1 lure covers that easily, Gulp soft placcies for $3.50 here there $9 or there abouts.
Rapala's are sooo cheap in Finland

About the only thing these days bought from shops are rods , bait and some terminal tackle that I need straight away .
