Commodore Crew Classic Catch***mini video****

Believe it or not this is the result after Andrew had a massive bite that pulled his rod our of his hands into th edrink seemingly lost forever..... enter our hero.... your's truly.... who quickly gets a bite and dances the fish over to where Andrew was sitting, looking all lost and forlorn without his brand new rod and reel.

Knit one pearl one and hey presto up comes my Pinky with a heap of fresh braid wrapped around the hooks..... he then proceeded to hand line up the catch of the day.

Andrew was amazed. Wink

Great catch

That reel would have needed a serious service after that.

Reel service

I think Andrew high tailed it into Ryan at Oceanside the day after we got back. I'm sure he will fill us in when he gets on line next.

Cheers

Nice one Andy - classic

Nice one Andy - classic catch for sure.

Have seen this happen once before to a guys brand new penn overhead reel and rod as he was trying to belt a mutton bird with it - he was a bit of a tool so I was kind of hoping it was lost forever but another guy on the boat dropped his rig over where the disaster happened and caught it.

No excuses

Fri, 2008-06-13 10:41

I knew this was coming and make no excuses, thanks Andy.

All I can say is that after a hard day of pulling double headers of baldies and pinkies at the Abrolhos, it was becoming a bit same ol same until wammo. The rest you can see.

But funny, and still p**s myself laughing at this.

Yes the reel was hightailed to Ryan for a service and picked it up today and excellent service done as well.

The moral of the story is, when you come on a Commodore Crew outing, there will sure be a lot of fun to be had, even if it is taking the p**s out of me.

Andy is most welcome back on the next trip, as a lot of other stories were told and things happened, that is best left to "What goes on tour, stays on tour" but made for an excellent fishing trip.

Thanks again Andy.

Easily done Andy

Fri, 2008-06-13 11:43

Don't feel bad Andy, easily done, at least you got your gear back - as you say, a good laugh after the event (especially with the gear returned and reel serviced). Laughing

Lost a rod and OH myself many years ago - took off in my original boat with the line out (and a patasnoster rig), with a stike drag setting - hood snagged and kaboosh! Embarassed Hard lesson learnt!

I was on a dingy catching

Fri, 2008-06-13 11:45

I was on a dingy catching whiting when I placed my rod down and went to help my gf take a  hook out. When I finished I couldnt find my rod anywhere. I checked every where but still couldnt find it. Then I noticed a sinker on the rails. Grabbed the sinker and managed to pull the rod up. Just a small snapper sinker, so quite lucky it actually grabbed on the rail (considering they are designed not to get caught).
