Squid with onion confit and red wine braised fennel & fetta

Squid with onion confit and red wine braised fennel & fetta

The squid is more or less whats in Frank Camorra's Movida Rustica, the fennel an adulterated version of Maggie Beer's from Maggie's Harvest.

It managed the house's best ever rating for cooking squid, pretty amazing as it's so tasty with so little effort!

Might have to be careful with the sweet potato? The onions are quite sweet and I had to put the fetta in to bring down the sugar levels! let us know how you go though!

How do you think an onion

Sat, 2011-07-16 00:02

How do you think an onion relish over a fish and squid stuffed royal blues would go on the side of that? and yea i think you're right, the sweet potato WOULD be too sweet. And perhaps having it all sittin on a bed of lightly charred baby spinich in butter. thinkin would make a nice creamy addition.

My mouth is startin to water lol

I like the fennel on the side though.

Ever eaten @ Movida Jamie? Got to say one of my fav's, always make sure we drop in for extended lunch & roll out after a couple of nice bottles from the Rioja region.

Lovely looking meal that one, will be giving this a crack

Movida is tops!

Movida is tops!

My partner was in Melbourne for a conference when my son was a bit younger. Cheekily we went to Movida Next Door, ordered a bunch of plates, then rang her to see how the conference was going. Food was great, the staff were really good about Otto free-ranging about the venue.

Andrea insisted on not missing out to we went back with her to Movida itself and I copped another feed then.

I have his first cookbook and just now have the second one on loan from a friend. I cooked the rich fish soup last nite, and the ricotta and quince empanadillos today!

Will have to try Next Door this coming trip, I am in love with the place & surprised Andrea didn't kick your arse for rubbing it in. You would tried those pollo escabeche miguel, I would say it's my all time absolute favourite

Of course she did, thats why we went back and she insisted on ordering. Truly punished I was ;)

Actually she managed to catch us up at Der Raum where the ever so accomodating staff fed Otto bits of pineapple and other fruit intended for their drinks ;)

Will try that dish next time!
