Wind Factory

Was wondering what everyones take on the proposed wind farm being built out from the Bouvards.

 Based on the current weather

Based on the current weather I think it has already been built and is producing a bumper harvest.

Wind farm is doing well up in

Fri, 2022-11-18 10:30

Wind farm is doing well up in the north . It's either blowing its ass off one way or its guts out the other.

WA is the ideal place to have wind farms all over. Its always blowing especially when you have planned a trip out on the water .

Will it be an eye sore is another question

Genuinely cannot see it

Genuinely cannot see it happening.

Today, right now, the mid west wind farms are being restricted because the network cannot handle the load and has nothing to do with it.

Today right at this point, we could be running 100% off wind alone but the grid can't handle it.

Once we have a lot more ways to store it, we will be in a better spot.

Don't know

Fri, 2022-11-18 11:44

Don't know but think it will eventually go ahead.

Would like to see what access there will be as the area covers the Bouvards which is a very productive fishing zone for crays, sharks and scalefish, if closed off it will put a lot of extra pressure on other not so productive areas

 Bloody great idea to have

Bloody great idea to have renewables, but the dingdongs in government should have secured the solar and wind before telling the coal miners that the synergy power plants in collie would close. It's going to bite all energy customers in the arse when the government has to buy high priced coal from the east coast to keep the lights on.

They are talking about

They are talking about several up the coast, out in 30-40m. Certainly going to hold schools of bait going to be great for pelagics, etc.

Tried a couple when I was up

Mon, 2022-11-21 11:35

Tried a couple when I was up there Andy but caught nothing. We had trouble getting queenies to hit lures at all. That's why it's called fishing I guess!

 Speaking of wind factories,

Mon, 2022-11-21 16:44

Speaking of wind factories, Hillarys was one this morning. My boat went back in the water and the wife and I took it back to the pen about 7am. Bloody difficult with an easterly gusting to 25 knots coming at you on the port quarter! Whatever you do it wants to turn you sideways. The wife gets nervous when it's windy but handled it like a pro and it went like clockwork.
