Sherbert cant catch nothing but his leg in his waiders! I think he got a few nice tailor and a mulloway but not too sure. The weather was pretty bad and he might not even got to fish.
Mid feb, watch for macs and tuna jumping out the back and be ready to send a balloon out deeeep if a easterly wind picks up. Though in Feb you should be buffeted for the whole week by a 16knot+ southerly :) Yep, take heaps of lead and hooks and be prepared to loose plenty. Also a long rod and breakaway sinkers, if the swells up a 12-13ft rod just won't cut it. Spend a fair bit of time fishing off the reef and if the swells up fish the small beaches in between the reefs which we generally refer to as the slips. A paternoster with sqiud ect works well throughout the day, especially at the slips and holds the pickers off a bit, and the mulie also works well. Most importantly keep a bait in the water at all times, no matter how shut down that place is, and it has been when ever i've been there. Maybe take some herring/whiting/tailor up as fillet baits as the last trip we did only 3 tailor were landed for the week.
so poida do u reckon feb is the best time for wagoe?
i am pretty keen to try gas ballooning of wagoe for macks n tuna..seen western angler reports and it looks like a good place
what time of year is it best for macks n tuna?
On my site/sherbert photos but we had it tough all week,Speak to the guy that runs the place and he will give you a print out of the weather report for 3 days at a time/Some great fishing if you get the weather right
Born to fish forced to work
I think the best time for macks and tuna would be around now, you just have to watch the wind reports and bolt up there when the wind blows over your shoulder. I would not take gas if the reports say straight southerly's unless you go to a party hire shop which refunds unused gas. If you wanna balloon head up may, june when the easterlies blow. There's always mulla's and pinkies caught this time of year, catch and use live/dead whiting and fresh tailor.
march april b the best time, start getting trough weather coming through and offshores are a bit more common. But there are so many tuna round at the mo, some big ones jumping right next to shore, had a bash at em 2day at jakes and lost a raider and a heap of line! try again 2mw! Good luck m8, should b fish round!
