uv torch

Hi just wondered if any members have used the black light/uv torches on their squid jigs or lures and if they recon it improves catch rates, as i,ve seen a few glow jigs and lures in the shops and like most fishoes love new toys.

If you dont have deck lights on the boat it would  work well with the white shimano ex and the lemons jigs

Yep, i do and it does work, squidding is about contrast. Some people only use glow jigs in the daytime and some at night time with varied results. Personally i prefer to use black jigs with a red foil at night (and early morning and late arvo low light conditions) to provide a contrast/shadow to the overhead light but if no interest i'll chuck on a glow. Then from mid morning onwards once the sun is up i use natural colour jigs with either a gold or clear foil or i use the white keimura (uv) jigs ie shimano egixile or sumizoku albino. Also, never discount the good 'ol pink jig! Have a look at/join the Western Squid Wranglers facebook page, great bunch people and heaps of info. Goodluck!
