Tailor Chasing
Submitted by Ganged on Tue, 2009-11-24 10:41
Went Saturday avo to beach north and got hammered by weed and wind, got some good bites but nothing landed. Sunday after Collecting abs in the beautiful weather decided to not waste the good weather and headed upto the sae beach again. No wind to speak off untill we baited up then the westerly came in and made casting difficult.
Managed to get 3 Tailor all on the 40cm mark after feeding the buggers more than half the bag of mulies.
Was a good day even with the wind. Got the day off tomorrow so will be there on sunrise to try my luck again hopefully the weather is like today..
Will try and put some pics up soon

Keep at it Ganged
There are still plenty out there. I will be so glad when that weed finally moves on.

we went sunday arvo up to a north metro beach also and got hammered by the wind. weed was tolerable for once which was a welcome relief... managed 4 tailor all over the 40 - 45 mark.
An old bloke fishing 20m right of us caught a monster metro tailor... was well over 60cm and pushing the 3.5 kilo mark... he was happy to land it seeing as he thought he could only catch em that big up kalbarri. lol
my brother also hooked up on a monster the same size but it managed to straighten out his o'ring as it jumped a metre outta the wash probably 2m from his feet... lets just say he wasnt too happy. lol ... just thought to himself where was his so called birthday luck.

10kg leader is fine when using gangs, but it pays to have a bit more insurance, 30lb-40lb is ideal but i rarely get bitten off on 20lb as they hardly swallow the whole gangs to do so

And it really depends on where you are fishing Ganged
If there is reef and rock around I will use at least 40 pound.

Have been told that you can and then also others say you cant... dont know for sure tho... the place is littered with 4wd's and dirtbikes come the weekend.
I use 40lb leader myself... 60lb if im near reef or rock.
