Spot GPS messanger
Hi,
Just thought I would post some information on a additional bit of safety gear I have been using.
Its the Spot find me device, one of the reasons I purchased it was when I go out in the boat locally or up north I let the wife know where I am off to for the day.These locations may not mean a lot to her, so with the spot device I can set it so it logs a trail and also send a "ok" message, this message goes to a preset number of emails and phone numbers, the message contains a link to a google earth image that show WGS84 coordinates. I have only bothered with the email message at this stage and it works a treat.
For the cost it makes sense to me to have one, When used with all your other safety gear and logging on and off sea rescue.
Its small enough to have on you all the time if you want to, water proof and has the emergency "COME GET ME NOW" message.

We just bought 100 of these
We just bought 100 of these devices for work to be provided to our linehaul drivers an as added measure of safery particularly when they travel far off the beaten track to reach remote minesites.
We lost a guy a couple of years ago And these are designed to provide that added level of safety when they travel. Dontg know abiut reliability yet, they are only just starting to go in.
Will advise when we get some feedback.
