caught this dude at the light house in hillarys about a month ago, just worndering if anyone could give me a correct ID?

bit weird to see one down this far

yeah ...hard to tell with the juveniles but the blotches get bigger and blacker with age. 

also the tails and fins get a redish tinge to them.

interesting catch anyway :)

 I caught a 35cm red emporer out of mindarie in 45 m with joffa on Saturday and yes I have seen a few red emporer in my time. Don't want to post a pic after the GPS co-ord debarcle  with iPhones!   It was certainly a surprise!

Wow ....have heard of a few Spang emp in perth but not this b4.

not sure if this is good news (red is my fav colour ;) or big bad environmental ?   or maybe this is just the occasional normal ....(just hear more about it with sites like this etc.)

 

Seems strange that only the young northern species seem to be down here.  anyone with a bit more knowledge know anything about this ?
