i picked up the lowrance

i picked up the lowrance HD5x sounder at the boat show today for $799.  First place had it for $979, then another for $899, then another place for $850 - then finally found a place selling it for $799:)

I looked at getting the Furuno 620 though this was too big for my console.  Apparently the HD5x also has bottom lock which was one of the main features on the Furuno.  I'm not sure if this is true bottom lock though the demo seemed to do a pretty good job!

I'll be fitting it tommorow and will hopefully test it out during the week...

I know its not the question but raymarine is still my favorite tad more pricey but holds ground at max speed in my rig

I have both lowrance and furuno, the furono shits all over the lowrance ,for pic quality , but the gps on the lowrance,is much better, the lawrance is still a top unit and will pic up most fish and bottom but does miss the finer detail..

i had a lowrance combo unit

i had a lowrance combo unit on my last boat because of space issues

i think the lowrance chart plotters are just awesome

the sounder did a fantastic job too. it got me fish.

once you read the sounder basics book based on the lowrance unit , you will too.

one of the best things about the combo unit is that you could move a vertical cursor line back over the history of the sounder reading and mark a decent looking spot without having to turn around and follow your track to re find the spot to mark it.

i've now just gone to furuno with the new boat, it is an awesome unit , but i've got to get used to what it's showing me. have seen lots of fish shows , but no real luck.

it picks up everything
