Gday Crew
Just wondering which brand/types of soft plastics take peoples interest? Im new to fishing and have been using zman 2.5 grubs on 1/4 TT jig heads but im heading to oceanside tackle this week to get some braid+tackle and might pick up another pack but not sure whether to stick with the zmans or give something else a go?

ZMans
I think Gulps are very good, but I'm sick of the mess. I won't be replacing my Gulps. I like Zmans and find the bubblegum shads very effective. I recently picked up some snapbacks which I haven't used in ages.
In my experience, fish will eat all of the popular ones, so I'm going for less-messy and harder wearing plastics.

I fish soft plastics for demersals, dhufish snapper baldchin cod etc, and find the squidgy pro range successful. paddle tails, green phosphorous, white lightening and pro wriggler glow are my favorites. also McCarthy bullhead minnows, hot orange always produces.

Blowies
Cheers guys ill have a look for those when i head to oceanside. I always manage to lose a few to blowies (tails bitten off) when i head out but not sure if thats due to the size of the softie or if thats a normal thing regardless of whats being used?

Hey mate - if you are using
Hey mate - if you are using SPs for land based metro stuff do no use gulps! check out my thread on here 'Help needed with SPs' They just get annihalated by blowies - I went to Oceanside today and they recommended the Zman - same material as the Snapbacks but they aren't being made anymore apparently.

I don't like gulps purely
I don't like gulps purely because they stink, and one thing I like about soft plastics is that me and the boat don't end up smelling like old smelly bait!

The gulp's go hard when you leave them on the hook in the sun and are a pain to get off

I believe that is because they are actually made from animal protein, not plastic.

If you forget to take your
If you forget to take your gulps off the jighead, put it in a glass of water for a few hours, they go soft again. Usually a bit deformed though.

Given up on Gulps because of the smell and mess once a packet is opened although the Nuclear Chicken did always work well for me. Prefer Zman and McCarthy's these days.
A lot of the Paddle Tail style plastics catch alot of fish but I've found these have to be worked very gently otherwise the Jighead hook continuously hooks the plastics tail.
