SKIRTED LURES FOR 20BUCKS EACH RIGGED THEY SEEM TO LOOK LIKE THEY WILL STILL DO THE JOB AND FOR THAT PRICE YOU CAN HAVE EVERY COLOUR YOU WANT,EAST COAST PUSHERS I THINK THEY ARE CALLED,HAS ANYONE USED THESE ,ARE THE MARLIN REALLY GOING TO KNOW THE DIFFERENCE.I WOULD REALLY APPRECIATE YR THOUGHTSCool

I agree with Luke, they don't come at any better value than the Richters.

I can't say I have used them

Fri, 2010-10-15 12:36

but like most things you get what you pay for.  $20 would be lucky to cover the material costs of quality rigging and a pair of hooks these days.  Marlin have been caught on some very weird and wonderful things in the past but if I was fishing Gamex I think I would be running more tried and tested lures.

Haven't used them

Fri, 2010-10-15 12:37

but the pic looks OK. I'd buy one and check it out before committing to a larger order (particularly the hook and crimp etc). At the end of the day its only $14 (plus postage) if its a flop or you may unearth yourself a bargain?!?

P.S. don't post in captials champ, it indicates you are yelling, and besides its horrible to read.

Sorry for the capital

Fri, 2010-10-15 12:49

Sorry for the capital letters, definateley not yelling, didnt realise it was an issue.my mate has ordered a couple so we will see what there like,my main concern with the cheeper stuff is that if you are lucky enough to hook an exceptional marlin say in excess of 200kg i woudnt forgive myself if my gear failedCool

replace all the leader hardware - then you only have yourself to blame!

I wouldn't buy lures rigged

Fri, 2010-10-15 12:39

I wouldn't buy lures rigged except from the most reputable sources. Mark Richter rigs every one of his own lures, by hand, by himself and never more than 20 at a time to keep himself fresh.

You really can't expect the same sort of attention to detail out of some guy that does them day in and day out for peanuts.

Have used them in gamex

Fri, 2010-10-15 12:52

And they have worked . Also used Softex lures from ebay and found them to work better. Just need to re rigg them with better hooks and leader. Have had them in the spread along with the name brands and have had as many strikes as the others.

The East coast pusher is a hard resin head. The Softex , as the name suggests, is a soft head . Most of my marlin have been taken on the softex in the smaller sizes 7.5 - 8.5 inch. A lot of the Exmouth Marlin are in the 30-60kilo range and the hookup rate seems better on the smaller lures but also works on the big boys.
