Simrad NSS help

 Ive got a NSS16 Evo3 fitted in my boat, and can't for the life of me see how to turn off the auto tracking.

Manual says it is set from Factory and "The automatic tracking function can be turned off from the Tracks dialog", but I'm fkd if I can see where?

The settings system in these seems extraodinarily awkward to navigate compared to the Lowrance which it is supposedly related to.

I cant seem to find how to;

  • stop auto tracking
  • start and stop a track to save it say for a particular passage
  • Get waypoints to show up on the screen, have to go into the side menu, "find waypoint", go to, then as soon as i finish navigation its gone again

Sounds like you might need a software update, they're a really solid easy to use platform from what experience I've had with mine. Give Haydn from Geraldton Marine Electronics a call he's the one who installed mine, he'll help you out. I'm pretty sure him and his old man have forgotten more about electronics is more than I've ever learnt!. Are you running the autopilot too?. Now that's a wicked bit of kit.

 yeah Ive got  a Lowrance pilot on it which works great.

I didnt purchase from them so am reluctant to hit them up

From memory it is up to date but is the 3 not 3S model.

I had no trouble with the Lowrance menus but this has me fkd especially setting up the side bar for engines etc

Even if you have to pay for them to come out and help you troubleshoot for an hour or so it will be well worth it.
