Shark fishing from shore

Hey guys just wondering if anyone here does a lot of shark fishing from the shore?
I've always wanted to try my hand at catching some sharks from the beach, I have a place at seabird so was thinking heading out along the coast between seabird and legde and kayaking a few baits out see what happens at sunset and into the night... Done alot of research into it and know all the set up etc but anyone got ideas on a new reel? Strongest reel i've got atm is a shimano tekota 800...
Anyway just wondering if anyone has any luck trying to catch sharks from shore, any info or advice would be awesome!

hey mate i might be going up to seabird in a few weeks time im just going to yak baits out and ile be using my overhead rod and reel Good luck!

Anyone know where I can buy good sized bait for the job? I know catching fresh bait is obviously best but if I can;t manage to get any does anybody know the best place to get a hold of some?
