shakespear bad quality GRRRRRRR

a few weeks ago i got my younger brother intrested in fishing :D so we went down to the local and got him a shakespear rod looked like it was decent quality. its been around 3 weeks since he got the rod and today while reeling in a blowie the runner at the end and about 4cm of the rod just snapped? has anyone ever had this problem with a shakespear or did i direct my brother in the wrong direction?

May I suggest before knocking
May I suggest before knocking the quality of a product, taking it into where you bought it from because it is in their best interest to replace or repair it. Customer service doesn't end when the money gets handed over.

Its been said many times, You get what you pay for. Better off buying mid level gear that will last, a rod still shouldnt snap given it hasnt been mistreated.

Just take it back
im pretty sure you will have no warranty problems. Depending on where you bought it will determine if you get it repaired or better, a straight swap for a brand new one.

thanks for the help guys i may just take it back and ask what they can do but for the price he paid i thought it might have been a quality rod or it might have been mistreated but ile go back and see what they can do

shakespear gear
bought shakespear rod and reel when I was 16, I am now 55, been abused, from when I loaned it, had a tackle shop in myree rebuild the rod due to abuse, it is still my favourit beach rod. I think the quality would be as good as any in the price range, and better than some. having watched the abuse some rods get on the jetties, droped, stood on, poked into bollards e.t.c., they do a pretty fair job, it is no wonder they fail at some later stage. I would think the retailer would do the right thing for the most part, don't go in guns blazing and get them off side before they get a chance to examine the gear.
