Just been out to my boat to plot a mark for tomorrow on the gps
Found some prick has been into my unit , and changed the co'ordinates from deg-min-sec, how i have em , to deg-min.
Undoubtedly got all my marks now .
If whoever did it reads fishwrecked , you're a Fu^k Stick.
That'll learn me for leaving it loaded up.

I don't know the full story, but it seems strange that someone would gain access to your stuff just to change the settings. Sounds like you are either extremely lucky to even have any of your stuff, or some sort man or machine of error occurred.

I would say they would change
I would say they would change the settings to the way their unit reads ,and save the points on a card. otherwise you'd have to do conversions hundreds and hundreds of times.
they just didn't bother to change the unit back. If they had done , I'd be none the wiser.

know the feeling
then you wonder which one of your mates might have done it. when you find your card on the dash, and a new empty SD card packet on the boat floor. pretty ovious.

Really. I think the lowrance
Really. I think the lowrance default is gps co'ords or deg min (31.52.500 as opposed to deg min sec tenths 31.52.30.0)
I've def had to reset unit from default, but anyway, someone is going to have to spend up big in fuel to sort the wheat from the chaff on all those points.

Dont know if it could have
Dont know if it could have been a glitch with your GPS but i once had my Navman Plotter swap over to Grid reference inbetween outings. And i know no one touched it because i keep my Plotter locked up in a safe with my other safe items. It was strange at the time i thought but then i also had a similiar thing happen with my handheld Explorist GPS a few years later which i had on MGRS and after turing it off one time i turned it on and it was on Lat/Long. I have only ever had this happen to both my units once and i cant figure out why they swapped over, but it was a simple case for me to just go back into settings and change the units. Hope it was the same with yours, but if your spots were stolen thats a very desperate/low act. Pays to have Phantom spots marked "Dhu spot" marked on your plotter and maybe have all your good spots marked Tuna or Whiting :)

thieving dogs got me too!!
i hooked up my 660 trailcraft sportscab this afternoon to test out my new Jeep limited's towing ability and after 5 minutes i noticed my boat moving from side to side on the trailer, so i pulled over and had a look and lo and behold some cock head has stolen one of my rollers and the adjustable upright that supports the hull!! unbelievable !1 and the hardware on the trailer is all tight and not rusted so it didnt just "fall" off but i have been away for the last 3 weekends so sometime during the night someone has knocked it off, anyway on a brighter note the new jeep towed vey well and i made it home with the boat intact!! but to all thieves out there have a good hard look at yourselves!!!. cheers

What about the boat-ramp winch handle bandits those pricks are always on the prowl . Nothing nicer than coming back from a days fishing to find some dog has nabbed it. Still not as nasty as a 'mate' backing up your gps for u

When asked by a non-fisherman 'how many fishing rods do you really need?' the correct answer is either:
n+1 (where n is the number of fishing rods you currently own); or
n-1 (where n is the number of fishing rods which would cause your significant other to dump you.

How many
people on here take their boats in for a service and leave the "GPS" in the boat, not real smart in my books.
Secondly and most importantly NO one has the right to take any info out of other peoples GPS's without their permission, nothing short of stealing in my books.
As for Vanders comments, he has left himself wide open to be remembered.
Bit of advice Offset the PCF so when they do look and take they will be lost.

Isn't Vander a QLDer these
Isn't Vander a QLDer these days? He automatically couldn't care less what people think of him.
It was a dog act stealing the points, and the boat isn't parked on the street, so they were on private property when they did it.

I also have a dog act to report
Lost my left trailer wheel going up the dampier hill. Hub shot to pieces. Called a mate and he came around, picked me up and we went to get another hub and tools.
When we returned with the hub, some pricks stopped backed up and stole the brand new spare tyre. Now we had to turn around and find a spare tyre.
I was in trouble with a broken trailer, and to add to my distress some #$$wit stole the spare tyre, probably knowing thats what I need to make it home.
As for Vander's comment. Yes the thought entered my mind about leaving it out ( I never do) but I (we) dont know the circumstances so how can I comment. Grayzee pissed off and you shot him down without knowing anything. That would be like someone saying to me why did you leave the spare on the trailor. Its below the belt, and yes it might not be what I/we do, but no need to inflict what we do on others and then insist that they are stupid.

Grayzee, one good thing. Probably like me you have heaps of Crap on there. I certainly have points on my unit that I have collected that is absolute crap, often used as waypoints and markers for rocks etc. I remember some points and leave the shiite on. Probably have about 30 out of 500 GOOD spots, and like mentioned above some a marked in Psuedonyms. My favourite Snapper spot up here is Waste of space, RedHeaven is in 5m and fantastic squid country, but you wont see a red in 5km, Chinamans is on the Beach on West Lewis, a waypoint into a shack etc.
All a bit cryptic.

I had my tradie trailer
I had my tradie trailer stolen on good Friday last year. It was nearly 10k worth of trailer and tools. It was stolen from right out the front of my house and my bedroom is at the front of the house. It was probably the worst day of my life, but unfortunately there's just so many scumbags around and they will take any opportunity they can get to knock things off.
I do feel for you grayzee and I'm not gonna be a prick and say its your fault, but look at the bright side, you do still have your boat, trailer and everything else in it. You probably got away pretty lucky, especially considering all the boat thefts we have seen on here lately.
Let this be a lesson to all of us, lock your things away. I know after my loss, I lock everything away and don't trust anyone.

Hey Just to clarify , I
Hey
Just to clarify , I generally did delete my marks after going out fishing, or putting boat in for a service, as the gps itself is not removeable.
It certainly was my fault for leaving the marks in this time, and lesson learnt the hard way. It won't happen again.
Certainly didn't post for a sympathetic ear (this ain't Oprah) . It was a heads up to everyone to not be complacent.
There are some wan%@z out there , who think nothing of taking whatever from whoever , whenever they please.
Thanks again Vander for telling it like it is .

I thought it might have been the case that you have
a fixed GPS unit. Have you got the ability to save your points to the Hard drive or flash card. I would then simply remove the flash. My unit isnt fixed so that is simple, remove it. But I have to admit i am more worried about loosing the Sounder/plotter than loosing the marks.
With so many boats out here in Karratha/Dampier, none of my favourite marks are mine. I have often seen other boats nearby or on one of "MY" marks. One of the best marks for everyone (almost) up here is on the pipeline, and you often see a few boats very close together on the same(ish) mark.
We have also fortunately got the islands to triangulate, and for realy good spot I triangulate to fixed point, record that in a diary and if I loose the GPS have triangulation as a rough backup. I can see that it might be very hard to triangulate off the back off rotto etc.
And yes we all have to be careful with our possesions, which is a pity, as I have 4 tackle bags I have to move on/off the boat plus all the usual crap you have to load for a trip. Would be nice and easy to trust your fellows and leave it on the boat, but I would hate to try and calculate how much each bag is worth if you added up the content. Probably have 100 lures in the lure bag, similar with slices/jigs/squid and poppers in another, and so it goes on. Would hate to loose that more than my points.
At the end we get over such suck activities and just go fishing.

WTF ?? - what has the world
WTF ?? - what has the world come to ??
Yeah, it was an unfortunate decision for Grayzee to leave the points in there, but how the hell can HE cop such blunt shit for it ???
He even said "That'll learn me for leaving it loaded up" - it's not like he needed a reminder ?!
Vander, seems like you're all OK with crime etc, as long as you're insured etc.
What if the crims did a house invasion instead and someone got hurt - would it be his fault for not having security screens ?? - where does it stop ??
Yes, different extremes, but same principle.......... there's only one party that did the WRONG thing here, and it ain't Grayzee.
And as for wanting to resort to violence, fuck mate - There's too many little antagonistic weasel shits like yourself around these days because you haven't been put in your place.
Plus, if there were harsher "penalties" for the pricks that do this sort of stuff (instead of getting pissy slaps on the wrist as junior crims).
this country wouldn't be heading down the shitter like it is................... instead of everyone just accepting it as a way of life.
First beer's on you.............. c#nt.
EDIT : and Yes, I'll call anyone a c#nt if they are ......... a c#nt.
2nd EDIT : try and be as clever as you like mate, but you obviously don't understand sarcasm or dry "humour" and you're in over your head.
