Salt Eliminator

Has anybody used any of the Salt Eliminator products available on the market for flushing outboard motors?

Does it work?

Affect Warranty?

Just trying to work out if it is worthwhile to use and if it will extend the life of the outboard.

flushing

I have questioned our mercury service manager before about using flushing additives. The additive im familiar with is called macs. They leave a thin oily coating in your water passages, he said it is good if the engine is brand new. If the engine has been used all your are doing is coating the salt/corrision that is already there. Personally i wouldnt bother using additives, I have done 300 hours in our 135 merc and have recently had the poppet vales and thermostats out and the engine looks very clean inside from just flushing fresh water.
