I'm in the middle of making a rod for a mate. Thought I would GoPro the making of the pattern.

And I have tried and successfully tied fancy wraps but that was manic.
i am surprised at how untidy your work bench is but that is perhaps a reflection of being brought up by an anal engineer where everything had "it's" place OR ELSE

No your right. It's terribly messy. I thought about cleaning it up but that would be faking it! I'm shocking.
I just locked off the end bits so will post that soon. I put a towel down to hide the rubbish lol.

A few hundred dollars and up from there. You'll notice I didn't use the motor though. I just lock the rod in and take advantage of the clutch stopping the rod from turning backwards and unwinding the thread. You'll be surprised at how handy that is. When I do the locking bits and guide wraps it is invaluable over a manual method.

Wow - I've done a few wraps and they were absolutely painful. Looks like the benefit of the machine locking up and leaving you with a free hand is invaluable. Nice work.
