G'day fella's,
About to order some poppers and stickbaits target species GT and other big reffies such as trout an cod. Reel will be a 20000 with sizes being around 180-200mm, which hooks will be best was looking at owner trebles or singles but unsure what size trebles and which model singles and sizes. Anyone recommend right size and model?
Also ordering a few poppers and stickbaits for my 4000 size reel around the 80-115mm size can anyone suggest hooks for these also please.
Cheers
Chris

For your bigger poppers look
For your bigger poppers look at ST66 in the 4/0 and 5/0 for trebles for your singles you could go Jobus in 9/0 tail hooks and if your baker rigging for the belly hooks look at 9/0 or 11/0 sj41s or 51s. You could also look at the decoy singles. For the smaller poppers go down to 2/0 or 3/0 trebles and around the same size for the singles in the sj's.

Each lure obviously depends
Each lure obviously depends on which hooks you use.
Each to there own but on most of my floating and sinking stickbaits ill run a baker of 11/0 SJ41s off the belly and a single off the back with two splits. Ive found some stickbaits swim better with singles but some swim better with the weight of a treble. Trial and error and experience comes into play alot.
Pencils or chuggers i use Gama Recorders 6/0s as i've found they penetrate alot easier been barbless and haven't seen or straightened one as of yet.
Cheers,
Sam

Advice -
As Zac said, we use ST66 in the 4/0 and 5/0 for trebles in the bigger stuff and prefer trebles over singles in many cases. We do stock the SJ41 in 7/0 - 9/0 - 11/0 singles and the heavier SJ-51 singles in 9/0 & 11/0. Use heavy duty Owner Hyper Wire split rings in #10 & #11H.
We have a heap of well priced poppers ie from $34.95 icluding big GT popper stuff. We have GT stickbaits from $19.95 including more expensive ones.
As for the poppers and stickbaits in the 80-115mm we stock hooks & trebles to suit.

Awesome cheers for the info
Awesome cheers for the info guys! I'll be in thurs to pick up some gear OST.
How about rigging your braid to leader, using 60lb braid and 100lb leader bimini twist to albright? how long should your leader be with a 7"6' rod?
Thanks

PR or FG
Knot to use for sure, PR or FG.
Small diameter at jointing point, very strong as well
Length of leader, my personal pref is long enough to let you hold on to it before casting.
That will prevent continuous wearing of the braid by your glove at the same point where the pointer finger hold on before casting.
Neither too long as that reduces very much of your casting distance.
Leader material, I prefer nylon than fluoro. fluoro tend to be harder with strong memory. i find them generating wind knot more often compared to the earlier.
personally i think fluoro is good for jigging.
Try it out yourself to find out which suits you best. I could be wrong.

I swam a few over in New Cal-
I swam a few over in New Cal- even if I caught nothing. I reckon the treble is needed on the stickbait at the back but a single underneath is fine. Poppers I found swam just as well with singles as it did trebles. Never got a fish so I cant tell you what held better when hooked up.
My mates reel that I borrowed had 80lb braid with a PR knot to 120lb leader already rigged up so just used that. Loved the way it went through the guides- I wonder if its worth doing in smaller diameters for chasing spanglies etc.

Thanks for the replies.I went
Thanks for the replies.
I went with 11/0 sj-41's for belly hooks back to back and single jobu 9/0 for tail hook with double split ring so hook was facing upwards. Ran this on bigger poppers and stickbaits.
Found that big single on back of stickbaits made them swim head high big time i swapped them all out for original trebles, much better.
On smaller poppers used sj-41 in a 9/0 which i found to be to big also.
Didnt have much popping luck except for a big bronze whaler and the treble held up fine until he bit through leader.
Used 60lb braid with 120lb leader with PR knot love the PR knot definately my suggestion to anyone not using them! Easy to learn to
