Question for the kayakers

got an old kayak sitting around that doesnt get much use, wondering what the easiest/cheapest option is for putting a rod holder on it? Even if its just a piece of pvc pipe attached somehow, just want to paddle around the river a bit.
Also if anyone has some kayak roof-rack fittings lying around that they want to sell let me know.
cheers

i drilled a hole in my old
i drilled a hole in my old fibreglass one, stuck in a pvc pipe then poured hard setting resin around it and it became hard as a rock. Just don't let it obstruct your paddling action because that can be quite annoying.

When I was kayak fishing-I
When I was kayak fishing-I found the cheapest method was to secure a milkcrate on to the back of the kayak, then attach short lengths of pvc pipes with cable ties onto the side of the milkcrate for your rods/landing net.
Also you then can carry small esky/drinks/bait/knife ect in the milkcrate.

ah milkcrate, thats not a bad idea, mines kinda slim and rounded tho not sure if it will sit flat. Cheers bruce, was kinda hoping not to have to drill holes etc as i don't really have any tools haha, but might end up doing that yet

if you want to fit the crate
if you want to fit the crate on why not just get some polystirene and cut to the shape of the yack where you want it to sit then just use a good strap to tie it on, that way it can be removed easy

just go to a tackle shop and
just go to a tackle shop and buy a rod holder. think there cheap. still gotta drill a hole though so it sits flat. i have done heaps of mods to mine (pvc) attaching everything with stainless screws. not sure how it would go with fibre though. make sure you use silicon to seal any where water touches so you dont get a wet arse.
