i am mainly targeting bream and flattie around the caning bridge area was just wondering i got 6lb mono on my reel now do i need a leader or do i just tie the lure to the main line
second question if i do need a leader do i just use a swivel to attach it

I always use a leader
I always use a leader regardless if my mainline is braid or mono. The leader is usually made of slightly different material. Usually stiffer and slightly thicker to give maximum abrasion resistance. You only need a short length of it, say no more than 1m.
I use flourocarbon leaders as it has more abrasion resistance than regular leaders. Yes its more expensive but I dont loose fish and I dont have to replace it as often.
Where possible, avoid using swivels to attach your leader. Use a joining knot such as double uni joining knot. Its easy to tie and keep it light, ie 6 to 10 lb.
