We found a school of them on a drop-off near Peak Island years ago. They were running around 3kg and were bloody good fun and good to eat.

The ones we caught were in about 17 - 20m from memory. We stopped for lunch and just threw out a couple of unweighted strip baits and after a while they started hitting us. I've heard of some really big ones being caught offshore in QLD.
